Weapons
Wushu combat methods have been developed for various weapons in China's history. Each weapon has many unique movements, and taking fully mastering a single weapon can take years.
Common Weapons
Straightsword
A light, flexible weapon for sharp and elegant performances.
Unlike other weapons, the hand without the weapon holds a special position that is similar to a peace sign, with the ring and pinky finger bent and the thumb on top. The pointer and middle finger are closed together.
Check: Holding the sword upside-down and behind a relaxed arm, with the hand near the handguard, the tip of the blade must reach at least the top of the ear.
Broadsword
A wushu weapon that's flexible and light, designed for more flashy performances.
Check: Holding the hilt in between the 2 fingers, the flat part of the blade on the shoulder, and folding the wrist inwards towards the body, the blade must reach at least the tip of the ear.

Nandao: The blade should reach above the chin.
Staff
A tall bo staff made of wood. Nowadays, it's usually made of light carbon fiber, but there's also (black version) and (red version)
Check: Held parallel to the body and perpendicular to the floor, the staff should reach slightly above the head.
Spear
A polearm with a pointed end. The staff is made of wood or light carbon fiber.
Check: Held parallel to the body and perpendicular to the ground, raise the hand straight up like asking a question in class. The tip should reach the fingertips.
